I pay homage to the Afro Latinos who kept the beauty of Son (Salsa) flowing. They of course brought this gift of music and dance from Nigeria. First came this dance of What we know today to be Salsa; Then later our Afro Latino brothers and sisters created other popular dances like Merengue and Bachata, Danza, Samba, etc. The first three genres I mentioned are my specialty of dance (Salsa Bachata y Merengue). I am currently learning Samba! I have working knowledge of of what the western world call "Bellydancing.
Salsa, etc is NOT ballroom but only the freedom of movement that exudes spiritual beauty and growth within our contagious Indigenous (or lamens terms, "African") roots. I only offer my respect and love to those that came before me.
Further, much love and highest respect to the Queen of Salsa; the Late AND GREAT Celia Cruz; A lady that inspired/inspires my internal fire everyday--especially every time I hit the dancefloor. Mrs. Cruz--the sublime lady that looks so much like my own Mother I think we are blood somewhere in my family line! For more information about the truest of Salsa, Google Boogalu Productions or go to the link on my Special Links page to visit this GLORIOUS site and see what style Im referring to. Enjoy and DO GO TO Boogalu's Website to buy! www.boogalu.com.
As Salsa, Bachata and Merengue are my specialties, Me and one of my partners (The one pictured) decided to incorporate ALL African American style of dance into these three genres. Examples include the Bop (step), Heel Toe, Pop and Lock, etc...ergo the term Dance of the African Diaspora or...as he eloquently puts it... Dance of the Tamoanchan.
You see, no matter what genre of song or dance...they all tend to blur because it comes from the same people!
